As the #IMAUoU End of year show drew everything to an end, I snapped a few photos during our viva break. In total we had 10 members who stuck it through, one left for America at the end of second year. I had a fantastic time with our little group, nit picking at each others flaws, commending on others successes and sharing out pictures of cats with boots, they are people who I will always refer back to, not just with work, but for everything and without our unique friendships over the years it really would not have been the same.
Any future members of any course I would really recommend starting to work for clients before your final year, if you can’t find any work – gain experience by creating your own things. As I mentioned to our Lecturers, in second year a few of us re-designed awful logos we found online, it wasn’t paid, they were never used but it allowed us to OCD over random designs and make them better in our eyes.
In the past few years I have worked to the best of my ability to help and include others with my own work and because of that I’ve remembered them and always referred back to those who shown interest. There’s a great difference in passion for work and just participating. I think if you can find something you’re genuinely interested in and can involve as many others as you can, who cares if you succeed or not, Bill Bryson once questioned which was worse “to lead a life so boring that you are easily enchanted, or a life so full of stimulus that you are easily bored.” I think I’ve found the perfect center.
